When a SpaceX rocket lifts off Thursday evening at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, seven Arkansas State University students will be there, anxiously observing as their research experiment heads to the International Space Station (ISS).

For the past year, students from five universities across the United States have been working to ready payloads for launch in late 2021 as a part of Student Payload Opportunity with Citizen Science (SPOCS).

On Episode 201, Sarah Smith, a NASA intern, interviews students who were recently selected to fly their experiments to the International Space Station as part of the program under NASA’s STEM on Station initiative called Student Payload Opportunity with Citizen Science, or SPOCS.
